WHAT DO I FEED THEM??

Is Melanie (4.5yrs) weird? Her favorite snack is whatever artesian bread (i.e. sour dough, whole grain, garlic rosemary) we have in the house dipped in olive oil & balsamic vinegar? And, if we have them, tomatoes. During Summer she loves when I chop up avocado, cucumbers and tomatoes with just a little salt and pepper. If given the choice between tomatoes and candy I have a very strong feeling Mel would pick tomatoes. I didn’t let the big ones have candy very often. Around 4 or 5 yrs old Alex woke up from a nap looking at her hands all confused and asked where her candy went, I asked if she was having a dream about candy and she said yeess (very sad!) So I don’t limit Mel’s candy anywhere near as much as I did with the big girls.

Mel’s favorite breakfast is Cream of Wheat, she’ll eat oatmeal too but she prefers Cream of Wheat. I’ve given her pre-sweetened cold cereal for breakfast before but she usually just drinks the milk out of it. I never used to give my big girls pre-sweetened cereal and I’m pretty sure they all love hot cereals but they all have their preferences between cornmeal mush, oatmeal, cream of wheat, cracked wheat, and grits.

I hear people say that kids will eat veggies if you put cheese on them but Mel and Monica are more likely to eat them without the cheese, they don’t seem to like melted cheese. They will both go get the bag of Craisins (dehydrated cranberries) out of the cupboard and snack on them. I don’t get it!

Who can figure these things out?

My big girls would eat anything when they were their ages. We used to go to the library and check out recipe books from the children's section that were focused on specific countries or cultures. We would go through them and pick out a few (4 to 6) things to make, go shopping and have a dinner from other parts of the world. I remember doing the Caribbean and India but I'm pretty sure we did a couple more. Now 2 of the big girls are vegetarians, Talk about Picky Eaters! It’s real frustrating to watch Monica (2yr old granddaughter) flip peas off of her spoon before she eats whatever else is on it. (Mom said my dad didn’t like peas either.) I love peas! I'll eat them frozen during the summer, I'll eat dehydrated peas and peas in any type of salad or pasta dish. I don’t think I've ever gotten tired of peas.

I guess every child is different and as long as you give them a Huge variety, the good and a little of the bad (all things in moderation)

I would like to be a little more diligent with what I’m feeding the 2 little girls just like I was with my 3 big ones but I’m so tired and keeping an eye on Melanie while trying to prepare a healthy meal is almost impossible. I need a leash that I can tie to me and to her so she is never more than 4 feet from me because even at that 5th foot she is destructive.

WHERE IS IT???!

I cant find my knitting bag and its driving me nuts! Its not like its so small I could overlook it.
I'm working on my 5th new shopping bag and when I'm done I need to weave in all the ends and then take photos of them and the 4 fabric grocery bags I made so I can get them up on my Etsy shop and BTW if there is anyone out there who could model my bags and/or photog them it would be greatly appreciated.

Favorite Houses

I found a great new background for my blog to encourage me to post more often so in that vein...

Because I enjoy searching the MLS listings for Utah I decided to post my 3 favorite houses.
Well, these are my three favorite IF money were no object.

1. 983 3rd Ave, SLC Price: $1,200,000

2. 1315 2nd Ave, SLC (this is the Federal Heights area of SLC) Price: $2,395,000

3.1869 Bella Vista Dr, Farmington this is about 1 mile north and slightly east of Mom's (as the bird flies) Price: $4,560,000

And now I know what you are thinking,...
One of these things is not like the others
One of these things just doesn't belong ........

I Stink!

I've decided I really stink at blogging. I always seem to have a lot to say but I don't have the skills to write it done. Maybe I need a volunteer transcriber and I'll just walk around with a recorder talking.... Yeah like that will happen...
